    Million dollar question???

Yes - riding on the coat-tails of the $1M 911 thread - but I needed your attention!!!

Found these photos in my friend’s attic last night. Michael was a Porsche Dealership sales manager back in late 1960’s to 1970’s.
He opened the Westwood Audi-Porsche showroom in Santa Monica where these photos were taken.

So the million dollar question is: does anyone here know or perhaps own the 911R pictured?
Michael opened the showroom in late 1968, and he recalls the photos were probably taken in early 1969.
Would be very cool to know who drove this 911R, what achievements it made, and where it is now?

    Anyone?

I don't know for certain but i am wondering if it is #11: 118 9 9011. Most of the cars were delivered and used in Europe. There were a couple of ones that were not white which can be ruled out (#20 Blue, #15 Gold and #13 slate grey) along with the known factory cars and race cars with a continuous known history in Europe

However #11 was delivered via PC Northwest Beaverton Oregon in Jan 1968 to the first owner in Portland.

It is hard to know when those photos were taken but from the above information it was 1969 /70.

I believe that in about 1972 the car was on Californian plates ZUR 639 and owned by Jeff Mannix. At that stage it was white but did not have any stripe like in these photos. Therefore the timeline and location makes it a good candidate to be the car especially given the limited number of cars produced and the fact that most of the others have known European history around the late 1960's early 1970's

i am sure that there are others on the board who may have a better idea - Ernie W??

The second picture above shows the inside of the door, hinges and door jambs that were not white. Would that have been the case if the car was white from the factory?

I have no clue, totally uninformed on this stuff.

That and the rear grill. Looks like an attempt to “spruce her up”, make her look more production. After all, she was an unloved, probably unraced semi-prototype.

I don’t think it’s #11. It never had stripe, front horn grill, engine grill or gold detail on engine lid. Original owner of 11 kept it till 72 like Hugh said. Here are contemporary pic of 11 when Manix owned it I believe. G

This is my understanding of the whereabouts of each of these cars in 1970:
#1 France Dominic Thiery Reg 3287 QJ 67
    #2 Eithopia Daolio
    #3 France Martinache Reg 1248 EU 59
    #4 Switzerland Siffert
    #5 ? Switzerland Siffert ?reg S-K 2403
    #6 France Martinache reg 784 EN 59?
    #7 Spain Gargallo Reg AND 7772 ?
    #8 France? S-K 2402??
    #9 Spain Reverter Reg 3571 DK 13 ??
    #10 Spain Solar-Roig
#11 West Coast USA Still with Chiles in Portland?
#12 France Robert Barret Reg 877 QE 54
#13 A Slate Grey car originally but later painted white - still slate grey through to late 80's?
#14 Spain Reverter Reg 3571 DK 13 (along with #9 ) but by 1970#14 is in Orange
#15 USA but Gold - at Collier collection by 1970?
    #16 France Gnuva Reg 106 HZ 12
    #17 Mexico Avila
#18 France Gerard Dantan Merlin (Gedehem) reg 7879 QB 14
#19 USA Vasek Polak then supposedly to Cullen Crabbe (white with orange stripe) raced in IMSA spec
#20 Reventlow Blue car (1970 Lipps?)

I suppose it is possible that #19 car could have been loaned to the dealership but i dont have any contemporary photos. The stripe looks more red than orange in the photos
It is hard to find a better match though
