Since when does an aluminum rear license plate panel rust?
Yes, aluminum can corrode; but iron/steel color rust?

Weird, I always thought '73 'esses' had both aluminum rear deck lids as well as aluminum rear panels.

The rear panel on my 73S is steel.

What kills me about that auction is the people saying "just get it running and drive the snot out of it". Anyone hoping it's that simple has some harsh reality waiting for them. Beautiful color but that's a full restoration waiting to happen by any measure.

Early 72 S's were the last ones to get the aluminum engine lid and license panels.

Maybe I read it wrong, but I believe the seller was stating, if it had an aluminum rear license panel there wouldn't be as much rust
