Thread: Looking for the previous owners of my car

    JLP RSR preservation build

    Hi guys,

I am still looking for the previous titles of my car and/or history but it is very difficult for me as I live in Belgium/Europe. The car was bought in Florida and has always been registered there.
Chassis is 9112300820 and according to the seller a 964 engine was fitted in the car in 1991, engine was new then and code is 62M50877 M64/02 (also looking for info on this engine).
The car was owned and converted to rsr spec by John Paul Sr, John Paul Jr did the 964 engine conversion.
The fuchs wheels on the car are 1976 and the bilstein coilovers are also (thanks for the info on that JimmyT) 1976 - 934 and it has turbo trailing arms, so I think the rsr conversion was done in 76/77.
I am looking for titles, papers, pictures,...
Is there a possibilty to pay an expert company in looking for this info?

    Thanks,

    Nico

Yes there are: I had contact with Brumos Racing mechanics, they said the car was bought at Brumos and they fitted a 2.7 MFI engine as JP quickly wanted more horsepower. A little later John Paul created JLP Racing and he had his own team do the final rsr conversion. A pelican member gave me the info about a ex JLP Racing mechanic, father of racecar driver Ryan Eversly. I contacted Ryan via instgram and he gave me his dad’s email. John Eversly told me it was his colegue Graham Everett, mechanic at JLP racing for the Porsches, who had build the car for John Paul.
I contacted Mr Everett: he did a conversion to coilover suspension with turbo trailing arms, 934 Bilstein coilovers, 917 brakes, RSR flares, a pedalbox with dual brake system, a IROC whale tail, etc… He build a 98mm shortstroke engine of racing parts they had laying around, the trans was original 911S with lsd, the car was converted to kind of a RSR “Touring” with parts they had on the shelf, must’ve been good times. Mr Everett is still active: www.grahameverettmotorsports.com

During quarantine I had the time to look at my old car movies and to my surprise I think I spotted my car in Cannonball Run filmed at JLP Racing.
Has anyone seen their shop on the inside in those days? Was it really filmed @JLP Racing? Cheers, NicoName: fullsizeoutput_86.jpg

    Nico,

If it helps, Jr. was competing in Formula Ford racing in '79/'80, I think he made it to the runoffs one of those years … I would think the shop pic/vid would be around that time...
