    Carpets

Often hear Hargaarn. Porsche used Velours or Perlon as terms to describe the correct carpets; never saw that Hargaarn term in factory literature of era which so me doesn't help

I've some NOS in packet with factory label. Fronts and rears. RHD

As listed in factory paper spare parts manual 72/3 not the PET online parts listing that can be confused by supercession etc.

This is the carpet. Front pieces and rear pieces all wrapped with factory only one is open so that is what is shown. Corresponds to rear carpet of MY 73 S and RS M472.

    Attachment 510057

Fortunately my car's original carpet are all good condition so these rare RHD NOS still in polythene wrapper with factory label parts are kept just in case.

Hope this is of interest and maybe reference helps as references of want factory provided ...about to go back into deep storage. Not quite sure what term Hagaarn adds to the conversation when sourcing modern reproduction that Velours or Perlon original terms don't..not aware of of Porsche using the Hargaan term in period?

I understand that 'Haargarn' boucle also referred to as squareweave is the only carpet for early cars.65-68(carrying over from 356

not relevant for the cars you are referencing imo.

Maybe I've not paid too much attention Chris as I don't need any repro carpet but iirc correctly hargaaarn ( spelling?) is often referred to w.r.t 72/3 modern carpet sources on posts here ?

Thought my NOS factory part with relevant part number label and original plastic bag might be useful to people navigating what current supplier base approximates to velours Vs original genuine example I have as once supplied by the factory for this part number. .

It just means hair yarn in German and could be to describe the yarn not the weave. The carpet would still be velours.

Indeed it probably is. Same as original in my 73 M472. Reason for posting it is many threads on carpet seem to post repros and then refer to Hargaarn -- repro swatch that isn't quite the same as original. Thought it might be informative to post a NOS carpet with manufacturer tags that have the part number for the 73S and RS M472 velours. These carpets normally are in deep storage but I was there so took photo. From importer records I know than 8-900 911 cars made in RHD 72/3 and even fewer than that were the S and RS with velours. Some E Lux got velors. Not sure about 74 onward as not my interest area. The rears are universal but fronts probly quite rare NOS part The backing of the velours is quite distinctive material although forgot to picture that. (I have a NOS Perlon rear pair one with similar with label but that is for T and most E typically so no use to me - quite different look and feel between the velours and Perlon).

Example in OP is one of the four NOS main carpets for RHD. Piece that happened to have the bag open Vs other three still sealed.; the velours pile hasn't ever been fitted, trodden on nor sun faded by being in car. Dry stored in dark airy place. Not for sale just maybe useful to folks to see the salt and pepper and the distinctive velours yarn finish that Porsche supplied as a new oart against that S and M472 part number.
