    Will a 215x60x15 on a 7R fit on the back of a SWB 911?

just thinking ahead and planning wheel tire combo for my overpowered '68 SWB 911.

Should I just plan on 185x70x15 all the way around or can I squeeze a 215x60x15 in the back on a 7R wheel?

    Thanks,

    Jay

This is a 195 X 65 on a 7R on my 67. Not much room for more tire.

Thanks. I haven't decided yet but leaning towards Vredestein Sprint Classics 185/70/15 perhaps on 6's all the way around.

@BrakeKiller. Did John's old car arrive to you in France yet? ...nice car. Enjoy it.

On an "overpowered '68 SWB 911" I think I'd want Avons over Vredsteins.

and I May choose something more sticky down the road. I don't mind the car moving around a bit though. ...and I'm at least a couple months, probably more before I really need to make a decision.

195X65X15 on a 7R wheel is the way. I think it has the widest track. I do not think you can get a 215X60 on a 7R on the the back of a SWB. Plus I think it will raise the back of the car too high. 185X70X15 on a 7R is close to the 195 set up, but still not as wide. Chris

And remember on a 7R wheel it's not the outside that you have to worry about it's the other side of the tire because of the off set, 195/65/15 is the way

Jay, I run Vredestein Sprint Classics 185/70/15 on my 911L/S and they are stunning on both wet/rain/dry

About the 911E from John, it was a fastidious process, but finally it is now settled - I own now the car. It will ship to CA very soon with all the parts in boxes. Then get it street legal (but keep the racing stuff) as I plan to do a coast to coast road trip with in May.

    Cheers

The largest tire that we put on the 7R SWB combo is 205/60X15. The 215/60X15s are too close (height-fender interference) for my recommendation. If you want more traction, I would suggest 175/70X15 and 185/70X15 in AVON for the SWB 6&7R set up. I have put on many of these and never heard anything but praise for them. Keep in mind a larger tire isn't always better traction if the compound is harder. For track use we usually put on 205/50X15 and 225/50X15 DOT C type. They are very close but can be made to work by clearancing the spring plate bolts....and some minor fender rolling if necessary. With the stiffer race suspension, this set up usually works well. HTH
