Just wait until you drive a 69s. Really is a thrilling experience.

BIG DAY!!! The 69 hits the road for the first time in nearly 30 years. Still have some teething issues to sort out. Won’t idle, the throttle has a hard catch in it, and not getting 4th and 5th gear. Ran out of time today, but will investigate tomorrow. I’ll get my wife to try to hold the rpm’s at 6,000 so I can set the timing and see if that helps the Idling. The catch in the throttle makes it very difficult to drive smoothly So that has to be addressed right off the bat. I suspect the 4th and 5th gear problem is in the linkage.
Even though it ran rough at low rpm’s and didn’t idle, once you got going it ran smooth and pulled strong. Ran it up to about 6,000 a few times, and like I was advised, it felt and sounded great. Very intoxicating. Put about 20 miles on the car and a huge smile on my face!
    Thanks for everyone’s help.

I’ve got about a thousand miles on it now and have all the big issues worked out. Starts good, idles good shifts good, and runs great. So now it’s just addressing the little issues as time permits.
Today I decided that I’d give the squirrels in the trees a break and adjust the bright circuit my drivers side headlight down a bit. As I was turning the adjusting screw I herd a POP and the light beam made a considerable jump up. Now it wouldn’t bother the squirrels but I might make some airline pilots mad. Sooo.. I got a self taught lesson on the inner workings of the H1’s. I put on a pair of latex gloves and carefully disassembled it being careful not to touch the bulbs or the reflectors. After some investigation I discovered a small rubber cylinder that attaches to one of the reflectors had become dislodged. I carefully reattached it and took measurements off the other light and readjusted all the adjusting screws. Put them both back on the car and set a piece of cardboard in front on them and they both aimed pretty much the same. Success!

Thanks. While it does have a nice stance, the paint is far from stunning. Not susceptible to close up photos...or even ten footers then again not afraid to park next to somebody either
