I don’t think that picture of Cris giving the camera the ‘finger’ is at all a representation of someone we all knew to be a genuinely kind person. Godspeed Cris and thanks.

I decided to delete the picture and let everyone remember him the way they want to. The picture was an inside joke on a friend of ours and Cris was happy to oblige.

    RIP Cris

A few weeks ago some of us RGruppe founding members and other RGruppe friends got together with Cris in Alameda for a photoshoot. Cris was in great spirits and happy to be with good friends and we were happy to be with him. Lots of story telling, looking at old pictures and of course our RGruppe cars that Cris imortalized. It was a great day. Thanks to Cris' daughter Jessica for a terrific picture that captures the spirit of it all. RIP good friend.

Thank you for the update, Chuck and the rest of the early 911 community. So many great memories of Cris and all of the events, meetings, introductions, and other activities he put his heart and soul into. He was like a member of the family for many of us. Gary

So sad to hear last night of Cris' passing. Condolences to his family - he will be missed by many.

Cris was a polarizing individual in our little world and in a good way. He co-founded a Gruppe that put together many like minded folks and I am honored to be a part of. His spirit will live on with his Merry Band of Misfits and their various gatherings across the country. God speed Cris and may you carve the afterlife canyons in your wailing 2 liter!

    Thumbs up Memories....

Gary... always good to hear from'ya bud....

Here's a scan of a photo I took at kind of the 'formal' North meets South start of the RGruppe at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center Car Show in Fullerton CA. in July '99...

Cris was glad-handing at the time but his white '69S was front and center...

    - From left to right:
Freeman, Roly, Kevin Beard (Piloti Shoes), the late Barry Williams ('68S lightweight), I think Eric Linden, and you Gary, right in the middle.... What'a day

    - Always in the middle of it all...

    Thanks again Cris ….

What a sad day...I will truly miss Cris.

We met in Walnut Creek, CA in the lower level parking garage of an office building around 1991-92. I had seen his 74 Carrera several times in the garage, but one day he showed up as I was climbing into my '71 911S. We became instant friends, sharing many lunches in Walnut Creek...always talking about early 911s. One day he invited me to join him at EASY the next Saturday where a few enthusiasts would gather. That was around '93-94 I think. Those Saturday morning gatherings at EASY continued through the 90s, leading to Cris and Freeman Thomas forming 'R GRUPPE' which held the first Treffen in May 2000 . After I moved to the Phoenix area in 2000, I would only see Cris at the annual Treffen, the LA Lit Show events, or one of the Rennsport events at Laguna Seca. But we talked and emailed often to keep up with what was going on in the early 911 community...and our lives.

The last time I saw Cris was last May at Treffen in Monterey... his famous smile and warm greetings and discussions were very welcomed as always. Here is a pic from the last Rennsport in 2018 with Cris (with that famous smile) and Marco in front of the Porsche Classic booth with the Toad Hall ST in the background, and one with Bob Aines, Cris, Marco, and me.

My prayers go out to all in his family...
