Sorry, a what is it worth thread, 73S hot rod engine

Let me start by saying sorry as I know many people dislike these threads.

I am trying to help out a close friend. He has what appears to be a hot rod '73S engine he is thinking about selling. As he is not really involved with the early 911 world he would like to get a sense on the value so that he can be fair to a prospective buyer and himself.

Engine in question appears to be a '73S. He bought it from Jim Torres >25 years ago. From what my friend tells me he built the engine for a customer but the project went another way. Engine is fresh and has never ran and appears to have some hot rod parts. From looking at it:

    - 73S case # 6330159
    - E MFI pump most probably rebuilt to RSR specs 0 408 126 006
    - Slide valve injection
    - Twin plug distributor not sure what make
    - No grenade oil filter

    Any help is greatly appreciated

Is the slide valve injection factory or reproduction? If it’s authentic then it is the most valuable piece of kit pictured.

No expert on those pieces. They are at least 25 years old. Not sure if reproductions were available at that time

Slide valve is cool and all but not ideal for a street engine. I would get it on a engine dyno and see what the HP and torque is otherwise you have really no idea what's inside or how it runs. It would be worth the time and money to get it on a dyno. I bet it's a 2.8L.

Agree. At the very least get a video of it running.
The incremental trouble will be well worth it, both in terms of value received but also ease of finding a buyer.

Slide valve setup is reproduction. Jim is still around, I would ring him up and see what he knows about the engine.

Yes, we will contact Jim. My friend knows him well from back in the day. What is the tell tale sign it's a reproduction slide valve?
