I have been doing some digging on 1971 cars, primarily regarding the missing VIN's for the 911S. A lot of interesting info on the old thread regarding the sports seats; and the fuel pump location was a noted item. So, going back through some old Panorama's, I found the Feb 1972 edition had this info regarding the fuel pump location. The change was made in late October apparently, and about 35 cars do not conform (are exceptions) to the following info.
Fuel pump is relocated to the left rear torsion bar tube as of these VIN's.
    911T 9111100562 & 9111110790
    911E 9111200312 & 9111210244
    911S 9111300331 & 9111310214
Karmann bodied cars were not listed, but I will update if I locate more info.
911T-K 9111120946 still has front location
