Thread: Wiring Help

  1. #11
Thanks to everyone for all the help. The wiring dilemma has been resolved as reported in my other thread https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...3-Ready-Set-Go. None of the diagrams I was able to access was completely correct but close enough to let me figure it out. One major problem was the hot wire going from the clock to the glove box light. My car had that wire coming from a different harness, but I was able to determine that there was a wire coming from the glove box which was chewed off near the trunk light, which was also chewed off, and if I ran the hot wire from the clock to those two wires which Siamese off to the dome lights (wich were also chewed off) then all the courtesy lights operated. Clear as mud huh? Anyway glad to have that portion behind me!

Red-white for the washer pump is only used on 1970 cars, the 69 car's have brown and black, and starting from 71-73 the front harness also has brown and black for the washer pump. So we always use the proper color code for each year.

gerakroo thank you for your response. It didn’t take long to figure out that brown was earth (makes sense since dirt is usually brown not black) with all the brown wires running to the bare cases of each instrument. It would of been nice to have one of your great harnesses, and at one point I almost gave up and ordered one. Money however is in short supply unlike time of which I have plenty. If this was a full restoration or if I was paying for labor, then a new harness would have been a no brainer. It would cost a small fortune since it seems just about every harness had at least one broken wire. Today, even though I thought every wire was fixed, when I replaced the brake master cylinder I found the two wires going to the low pressure switch broken!
