    help identify small plastic threaded cap inside hood area

    hello, can someone help me.
    for a 71 911, i have this one cap, threaded, and about 15mm across.
    shown with yellow arrow.
    I don't remember where it goes....i had a note on it, "inside hood".
    the others are just in photo to show scale and the difference.

    Scott;

    The plug with the yellow arrow goes on the right side of the upper trunk floor, just above (to the rear of) the VIN/Chassis number stamping.

    Let me know if a photo would help,

    ..And if not,
    well, if you're certain it's #34, then one clue to the mystery is that it installs horizontally.
    I cannot determine if that panel in the diagram is the bulkhead/firewall between the trunk and the cockpit or the inner panel of the trunk at the trunk's front... ..I'm leaning toward the front trunk panel because of it being in the same diagram as the front floorpan crossmember and what looks to be the outer front trunk panel and trunk's latch lock.

    Also, similar (if not identical) white plastic/nylon threaded "hole plugs" were installed into chassis crossmembers in the trunks of all 914 "giant killers" ..the holes they plugged were access holes to bolts hanging exhaust shields or exhaust hanger bracket.
    So, I'm wondering if your plugs provide access to bolts which fasten the front bumper or their brackets or something else at the front of the car or simply plug holes in a chassis crossmember up there.

    But if that panel is the bulkhead/firewall between the trunk and cockpit, the diagram would hint that they install into that panel from within the cockpit.

    It's been years since I had a pre-G-body 911 and a few less since I had a US Carrera, so someone else may have to look into their frunk to help you solve this mystery...

    Very similar to the items used on the upper end of the rear bumper upright protectors (two plugs per protector) to cover the holes used for access to the attaching fasteners.

    The rear bumper plugs are available in white, but the 3 parts (24, 25, 26) 999.703.083.40, 999.703.057.40 and 999.703.098.40 are all either NLA or black now. Any ideas on other sources?
