    Help Air Filter boxes

I have searched and I think I found my problem. But I wanted to check with the experts.

My car is a 1971 911S - early model built in 11/70. When I purchased the car it had its original engine, including MFI and a plastic Air Filter Housing. Given that it has some melted areas, I purchased a metal one as a replacement. Now, as the engine has been rebuilt to original specs the replacement metal housing does not fit on the metal boxes that connect to the intake stacks properly - the end clips do not align. It also seems the boxes are too low as the bottom of the air housing hots one of the MFI fuel lines. I think this is because the boxes are for carbs and the housing is for MFI or vice-versa. So looks like the clips are in different locations ? and perhaps that the boxes for carbs lower/shorter than for MFI? Were metal boxes made for both Carbs and MFI?

Hopefully I can just buy new boxes, and not the Air filter housing (that was expensive). So I think I need to get a set of the metal air boxes that will work with the air filter housing. Does this make sense? And if so, how do I determine which will work with my metal air filter housing. Or do I need to find a different air filter housing? Help.....

    Hi Simon
I had an 70/71 S MFI airbox and base set up. The bases had a raised lip on the inner radius that the airbox would seat into. My understanding is that you have bases for the carbs. I'll see if I can find some pics. Great looking engine by the way!
