    Air Cleaner Boxes

I have a 1971 911S with MFI. The car came with a plastic filter housing and metal air boxes. See picture. I purchased a new metal air filter housing that I have been assured is for a 1970/1971 MFI car. However, when we try to fit the filter housing to the lower metal support boxes, the clips don't line up. I have been offered airboxes from 1971 but have 2 questions...

Are the 2 lower metal air boxes for 1971 the same for Carbs and MFI?
Did the lower boxes for 1971 also have the small holes that were used on the carb boxes for the carb jets?
Anyone have pictures of 1971 MFI air boxes?
What clasps do the 1971 have? All wire or part wire with metal band? - see pics. I was told the ones on the right are pre 1970

It says that "there is a one year only air filter base # 911-108-014-00". As has been pointed here a few times, some early 1971's (like mine) came with metal airboxes, not plastic, Mine is metal, so I am not sure the statement is correct.
I am being told by a few folks that my metal air filter housing is correct for both 1970 and 1971 (some, but not all). So thats the air box I am trying to confirm the questions above for

    Simon.

To the best of my knowledge.......The difference in the air cleaner bases (for the metal air box) between the early Weber type and the later 69-71 MFI/Zenith type is in the orientation of the front and rear tabs that hold the clips. On the early Weber type, one of the tabs is aligned along the front to rear plane of the throttle plates and the second is offset slightly from that plane. On the 69-71 MFI/Zenith type, the front and rear tabs are both offset slightly. The photo shows the later type. Note that the clips themselves shown in the photo are not the correct ones for the 69-71 bases. The correct ones are the small wire type.
