    Soothe for Beige undercoating

    Guys
Looking at underside finishes of the 700 mile 1970 an original 71 recently for sale,
The underside of the floors are definitely a beige shade up to the seam at outer pan edge.
Then semi flat black in wheel wells.
Also engine area same black and front trunk body color

    So...
The questions is What’s best product/source in USA to match or are restorers custom mixing to get the correct color?

    Thanks for info

I think the beige is actually a grey....its a brown grey, not a blue grey.
i think it tended to turn yellow over the years.

i mixed my own grey, from straight out of the can primer... and I tinted it ever so slightly with a yellow ochre from the paint store.

I am slowly doing a ‘70E restoration. I know this subject has been beaten to death. Howler, I am still not clear on the correct finish for the exterior floor for a MY 1970 car. I assumed from reading this tread that body color was correct for MY 1970

In studying the photos of the low mileage ‘70S, it seemed to me that the floor was body color.

    Is that correct?

from what I have seen, on 1971, the underfloor was the grey bumpy stuff, all over... with a very small amount of over-spray in body color, just near the rocker's edge...
then the hand painted black brushwork, just at the rocker's edge.

this is how my car is, and several very low mileage cars...
it is just hard to tell on the 700 mile car...because it is silver...(a form of grey)

I just reviewed again this morning The photos of the 700 mile car (1970)
It’s very clear the beige/grey on underside.
Also the transition from the beige to black at longitudinal and wheel wells
Also clearly seen on recent for sale original 71 ....underside photos.

Frank Beck had provided me a center section of floor with tunnel (my tunnel was rusted out).
It was in very original condition so I took it to my painter to have it scanned for color and to make me so single stage
to apply over the UPol/gravitex textured application.

PM me for the 700 mile photos as I am not able to post.
    Thanks
    Frank
