My friend’s car and mine were properly social distancing.
No, unfortunately, Earl's car kind of disappeared over ten years ago. He sold it to a fellow Pac West member who subsequently found himself in a bit of legal hot water, so it was sold again. We lost track of it after that. Earl went Spec 911 racing and never looked back. I don't think he has had a road going Porsche since. The car in the foreground belongs to my good buddy Chris N., long time Pac West member, maybe best known for his gray ST replica. You know him...

That's a shame about Earl's car Jeff...…..I had my hands full keeping up with him in that car...
Indeed I do...……. That car was the show stopper in '2006 …The car in the foreground belongs to my good buddy Chris N., long time Pac West member, maybe best known for his gray ST replica. You know him...

Heh heh heh... We ALL had trouble keeping up with Earl in that car. He led many a memorable Pac West drive in the time he had it. Some of them maybe a little too memorable... I think we all finally helped him decide, as a club, that he was better off on a race track. He's been tearing up Spec 911 with Jeff Gamroth (of Rothsport) ever since.
Indeed. And while it still looks as good as ever, he's now got substantially more oomph behind that firewall, going from his original 3.2 to first a stock 3.6 with PMO's to now essentially an RSR spec 3.6 (maybe even a 3.8, I'm not sure). Levon, of Toad Hall fame, built it for him. He let me drive it at our Sports Purpose Day at Buttonwillow a few years back, with the stock 3.6 in it, and that was impressive enough. He assures me it's "much faster" now...
So, anyway, the burgundy car is actually his own color mix. So is the lighter gray-ish '69 S parked two cars in front of it (that's a really spiffy 912 between them, by the way) and, now that I think about it, so is the ST. Chris has an amazing eye for this kind of thing. He just mixes paint until he likes the color. Can't argue with his taste... The burgundy car actually has a lot of brick red in it that doesn't really show up all that well in the photo. It's really stunning in real life.

Another back road drive to Wrightwood….
Because 5 miles of Angeles Crest HWY are still closed you can’t go directly to Wrightwood by way of the Crest (HWY 2), so you go up the Crest from La Canada till Angeles Forest HYW, go up and over to Mt. Emma Rd. and make your way to Big Pine HWY, this brings you back up to the Crest right at Mountain High Ski Resort and Wrightwood about 3 miles away….
- Pics taken at the big gravel turn out on Angeles Forest HYW just before Mt. Emma Rd…
- At Jackson Lake (pond) on Big Pines HYW… My friend's 20 something daughter road with me (The kid I taught how to drive her '64 Volvo 122S stick....
- On the same way home..
- And finally, 18 year old High School graduate Grandniece in front of their house in Wrightwood…….. VERY proud !!!!! …
- The same Grandniece as posted before….
Cheers,
Chuck

Absolutely perfect weather this weekend for a drive through the Driftless region:
-Scott
Yesterday we went for a drive to Willow Springs Raceway … THE LONG WAY !!!
Probably adding close to 50 miles of back road driving to our usual 75 mile trip...
I called ahead and was told the track would be open for their open practice, and the track's café and bar would be open as well...
- Yes, the track was open...
- Yes, the bar and café were open for a social distance lunch and drink... thank you …
- And No one showed up for their open test day...
Yes, we checked to see if we were able to be escorted for 'lunch recon laps' … They said no....
A local grandad took his grandkids to spectate... There was no cars on the track so they came over to look at ours... the enthusiastic kid already had a pretty cool shirt on ….
It was a beautiful day so we took a different LONG way home...….
Cheers
