Inner door glass fuzzy - on door or on door cap?

Do these fuzzy channels go on the door itself? (Number 15 in picture.) Or are they supposed to mount to the door cap somehow? I only have one side, looks to me like it should go on the door sheet metal, but the parts diagram makes it look like it attaches to the door cap.

there is different versions of this fuzzy(for sure). and different mounting positions if i remember correctly.the one pictured looks to be the one that goes onto the cap.
just have been through this and ended up useing an used one from my stash instead of the one i got from P

On 65 and 66 cars the strip attaches to the garnish rail or door cap as you mention. I'm not sure on later cars. It's a U-shape profile as the diagram shows and is just a press fit. However, my understanding is that you can NOT find this part new that looks anything like the original. I'm hoping someone has a source. Otherwise you need to find an existing original piece.

That's my problem now, I only have one. It fits perfectly when snapped on the top of the right door, and I see no way to attach it to the garnish cap. I'd like to just order a single one for the left door, but am concerned about which one I really have. If the one I have now is supposed to be on the garnish rail, it may actually be a left side part. So I wonder which side I should order?

On the other hand, I see some vendors show the current version as fitting either side. Mine is definitely cut at angles for one side or the other. So maybe it doesn't matter.

Arne, it goes onto the door it self. It's the inside piece. Snaps right on top of the door. Porsche sells a different kind now but you can get nice ones that are correct from International Mercantile.

I can't speak for long wheelbase cars, but there are two fuzzy strips, one snaps to the door panel and that version is easily found. The other mounts to the garnish rail to contact the inside of the glass. For short wheelbase cars, an original looking version is not available, or at least I have not found one. IM said they carried it returned it because it wasn't even close. Again, if anyone has a source for the one that mounts to the garnish rail on short wheelbase cars that matches the original please let us know. Or can we say one does not exist?

Bumping this thread. Has anybody tried the 914 part 914.531.939.10? Also does anybody have a good picture of an original ones? I would not be surprised if it was a generic part used on other German cars on period also.
