Rear centre part: “bolt/nut” or “tapping screw/speed nut”

I have a fairly detailed and potentially “geek” question.

I always thought that the tapping screw was used to fix the rear centre part to the bumper corners.
This conviction was strengthened because of the tapping screw and speed nut I encountered on a model 1967 and a model 1973.

However, when I look at the PET, there is a bolt in the -68 scheme and a tapping screw in the later 69-.

What is your experience? Would a bolt and nut be (more) correct for a model 1967?

i also noticed this recently and was wondering a bit since i`v never seen bolt and nut. sheet metal screw and speed nut is the way to go i`d say.... what i`v seen once on a SWB bumper corner (that looked pretty original to me)was a clip/speed nut with metric thread .years ago i bought +50kg of bolts and screws etc from a german porsche 911(mostly swb) dismantler and found several of those threaded clips.

In real life , (original cars) the bolt head is opposite of the PET , the head faces the license plate panel .

Photos from an original paint. Low mileage 1971 T.
And I think there is a white plastic washer, maybe aluminum, between the painted parts. Causing a gap.
    There is certainly the gap.

In the LWB cars, the speed nut and taping screw were used in my experience. 2 per side large OD ALU washers were used to produce the proper gap between license panel and the bumpers in many cases.

Speed nut/Sheetmetal screw is the only set up that makes sense with the muffler installed...just R&R'd my license panel yesterday and can't imagine trying to assemble a traditional nut/bolt fastener on each end of the panel.
