    You probably have a set of Weber IDS too! I am assuming you bought the 68 911 L project on BaT. Just curious, what engine type was that case?

    From the case casting, I believe it is an (unexciting) 2.0 Liter Mag case, circa 1970? Thanks.

    [QUOTE=2.2S;1055518]I don’t think they made 2.0 in 1970.

    Case is a 901/08 2.0S
    Dist was 2.0S

    Same casting 2.0; 2.2, maybe 2.4?

    Porsche put the 2.0 into the 914/6 in 1970... regardless, 901/8 is a 1967 "S" case.

    Just to be clear Porsche used the same case for T, E and S (and Normal); Porsche stamped the Engine Serial Number; Type number and casting number on the case after it was case and the engine was assigned to be built. Now the casting number is 901.101.102.1R and and I'm not sure what year(s) this applied to. Are we on the same page? Thanks.

    PS I'm also not aware of the reference book that applies to the casting number. Probably is one, or a list someone put together.

    It would be a 1968 911S engine. The first 99 were aluminum, but the majority were magnesium; the first iteration of the case.

    Thanks Dave. How long did this case casting last? Some less interested and who find this boring, don't care, but the more in-tune Porsche guys do. Thanks !
