did some nice „illegal“ run with the license plate, which I learned hasn‘t been registered and is out of the DMV listing and because that plate was issued after 1970 it will NEVER be allowed on another car registered in California.

Haul, your plate format was used from 1969 through 1980.
These plates can be re-issued in accordance with the California year-of-manufacture program.

Yes. If you had two plates. It could be brought to dmv, in person.
They have a program, that allows for blue/yellow plates for the right years.
And the blue plates must be 3 numbers then 3 letters. (Which yours are)

I have done it 3 times.
    Twice approved, once rejected.

    Cost is about $40
    And about $40 a year.

Your car looks like a 66 or older.
So that plate would be black and yellow.
With 3 letter then 3 numbers.
    DMV allows that too.

So do I get it right:
my info was wrong and I could reregister this license plate?
but only for the right years...so if my car would be a 69, than yes, but with a 65 no?

but I could not change the plate from blue/yellow to black/yellow?

very difficult to understand your californian registration laws

No one understands the California laws.

Many old plates can be reused. If the right colors and proper numbers.

A 1965 cannot have blue plates. Only black.
And you must have two plates.

    The plates can be restored(repainted)

And there are people that can make a fake plate.
But the DMV doesn't allow a fake plate. So you would have to trick them.

You cannot paint a black plate blue.
And you can't paint a blue plate black.

The numbers and letters would be wrong.

    Current long term ownership: 63 Cab, 71 911, 74 914
