911s camshaft stamping on end of cam

    Hello,
Isn't there a number stamped into the nose of the camshafts on S cams so you know what your dealing with when setting cam timing?
I am thinking 54 or something?
It,s a 73S but never thought it came on at 4500 like other S cam cars I had driven.
Installing the MFI that was on the car from new after getting it redone and I want to make sure about the cams.
    Thx, John.

I use this camshaft cross reference. The casting number is usually cast into the shaft. For a 69-73 S you'd be looking for the 167 (LHS) or 168 (RHS).

The cam tower blocks the line of sight to the stamping on the shaft.
