    1966 911 European model

I may be purchasing an early 1966 911 (not an S), European model. What makes it a European model? Is this less desirable? Any help would be appreciated.

Not much in those years, I think lights, gauge markings, possibly ignition switch (locking vs, non) and possibly seat belts.

One other difference: in 1966 the European FM band ran from 88 to 104 MHz. US band radios went up to 108 MHz.

As far as I can tell, early 911s & 912s without locking steering columns were either right-hand-drive or headed to North America although many US-delivered cars did have locking steering columns.

The US and European versions are so similar any difference in desirability will be in the eyes of the beholder and much less important than the car's condition and possibly any rare options or unusual colors. If it's slate grey with red leather and a sunroof don't tell anyone about it till you have clear title.

One nice thing about the Euro version is that you can get reproduction headlights while the sealed beam version's NLA.
