I hadn't thought of that, Bill. You are correct, this is a natural for that. The early diffusers only have 7 different parts, and 4 of them are the same. So 4 different 3D models is all you'd need to duplicate the whole enchilada. Will need to see what it would take to scan or model the parts I need.

Taking a first swing at 3D modeling, starting with the spreader bar, as it seems fairly simple. The CAD software has a pretty steep learning curve, I'm finding...

I think I've got the spreader bar handled now. Going to look at the normal vanes next.

I hate to interrupt your new project, but I have the vent unit from an under dash Buhr unit that I took apart years ago. I have the same problem with my air duct- a broken vent which is why i have been saving the vent units.
You can have it for the postage.

The second part is not going well in the CAD software. Now I know why I became a server sysadmin, not a CAD designer. Sending you a PM, Bill.

Further efforts to 3D model the swiveling vanes are on hold, as I am getting a replacement from Bill as posted above. Since the vane CAD work is proving far more difficult for a CAD noob to get right, it is not done.

The spreader bar looks right, but it is obviously not tested for proper fit.

While I believe that my immediate need is covered, I think that I will continue working on the 3D model of the small vanes, as time permits. At some point the supply of these parts will dry up, and I suspect I'm probably 75% of the way there now. Will probably post further updates in a new thread, rather than an old Wanted ad.
