    rear hub stud swap

patient is a '66 coupe. this step in the process is preparing for a pair of 6" Fuchs that were sent out to have 1" added to the inside (3 years ago, but that's a different story). I naively purchased hub spacers and longer studs vs. the Sparco bolt-on-and-go style. no problem, right ?
    uh... not exactly.
after soliciting help here and over on the Bird I opted to try the route outlined below.
my FLAPS (Friendly Local Auto Parts Store) loans certain types of tool free on a 48 hour basis. looking over their offerings I hoped that the tie rod end tool would do the trick, but grabbed the ball joint tool just in case.

    removal

as luck would have it the tie rod end tool just barely made the stretch for stock 35mm studs. as a note, I'm driving the tool with an impact wrench. the stock studs will only back out through the port normally occupied by the
E-brake actuator assembly. those fortunate enough to be working on a '67 S might have better luck although depending on the length of the new studs even this may be a moot point. so... out with the old

in with the new. some of you may recognize the spacer. the lug nut will be "retired" at the end of the job.

    it's Miller time
be forewarned that removing the E-brake stuff is easy. installing same is something that can only politely be described as a character building exercise.

"character building" - LOL. I have plenty of character, apparently none of which is patience.
