    Cleaning 44 yr. old carpets

I have some 44 yr. old carpets that were removed from another Porsche. I bought these carpets because no one has the same material that was used 44 yrs. ago, and I have searched for 7 yrs. so I know at this point that the material is NA, ANYWHERE. When I began on this trek I was told by a foremost authority that I should buy another Porsche that also used this same carpet and take that carpet out and sell the car.
They need to be cleaned and so I decided to pay a visit to a Persian carpet dealer as they would know how to safely clean old carpets.
Well, I paid a visit to the Persian carpet dealer near me and they said they couldn't do them - too old and fragile. If you try to bend one of the carpets you can hear a crunchy sound.
So, I have a couple of,choices: 1. Install the carpet as is
    2. Try and clean them myself.
I have cleaned carpets before but nothing this old so I am not sure what to use.

If the Woolite and vacuum doesn't do it, you're SOL. Take a shot, the worst that'll happen is buying replacements. Did this really warrant a new thread?

I have waited for 7 yrs. for these originals. A replacement is just not the same and since I am restoring a few things before it goes up for sale, originality is important.
SORRY, forgotten I had posted this before.
