Thread: Stolen: 1970 911t

  1. #11
You never know—a (later) 911 was recently stolen and found in a driveway not too far away. Zero damage, or very little.

Other alternatives are listed above. I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you. Unfortunately, the cars have become really valuable and that transfers to the parts. And modern cars have become tougher to steal and do anything with. Manufacturers can track them with their service networks—or directly—in many cases. There came a point a few years ago where I was less worried about parking a GT4 in SF than I was a 914. Ditto for hotel parking lots.

Will keep an eye out in Marin, but have to admit I am not on the roads as much. Suppose that goes for a lot of people.

David, all of the members of the Registry will be very sorry to hear about your horrid dilemma.
It is a constant form of anxiety that we all live with daily.
From what you have shared here on the forum, it would appear that your car was stolen by peoples that knew it resided where you do and also had knowledge of early Porsche 911. 12.50 am and only a couple of minutes? Do you have surveillance?
Whilst insurance usually reimburses us with a monetary claim payment it (if the car is not found) never really heals the hurt of the loss.
Having been the victim of Auto theft, I now have Sim Card trackers on my cars and I would advise all of the members here to do the same. Inexpensive and the only fee it the monthly Telco Sim card charge, also insurance companies love them and the reduction in the Premium charges more than covers the device and sim payments (here in NZ).
None of this alleviates the sorrow you are experiencing and I do hope the car is found quickly.

Thanks for all the replies! No word from the police thus far; to be expected perhaps. I didn't leave much gas in it so hopefully he ran out of gas and ditched it before he got where he was going. My expectations for recovery are low but I'll remain hopeful. This certainly stings!

    I like Andy's approach.

We had one of our dogs stolen last year and hit 'Facebook' asking people to "share" our plight which after 3 days had a happy ending.

Got my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Ps the dogs now have 'trackers' on them too now and they work a treat. The dog trackers can also be put into cars avoiding having to hard wire them in. GPS to within a couple of meters.

I haven’t posted to NextDoor and I’m not on Facebook but perhaps I should. I’ve spent a chunk of the day reaching out to people in the community so hopefully that will help. I’m at a loss (excuse the pun!).
