    FS NOS Porsche 911 68-early 69 Tachometer

This is a rare NOS Tachometer for a 1968 and early 69 Porsche 911. I installed it in my car and ran it before listing and the instument performed beautifully. Price is $450.00 I can be reached at Porsche356bcoupe@gmail.com. The last picture shows the tach running in the car.

I thought 68 cars tacho part number started with 901, can't quite read the date stamp in the body to confirm, think it says 12/68 so I think more likely 69 only not 68

Product code #911 641 301 01. The lettering switched from green to white in 1968. The 1969 Tach eliminated the thumb screws in back early in 69. So this is a rare 1968 only tach. Also the 912 tachs only went to went up to 7000 rpms/ thank you

your casing is clearly a 912 casing...!!
    no doubt about that..
so you state someone has changed the 911 internals into that housing?
Well, in my eyes this really
    makes it a rare unit...

It's called a bitsatach. Bitsa 912 and bitsa 911. Someone was creative at one point, housing does say it is for a 4 cylinder but the face is 911. odd. Was it tested in a 911?

Weren't the early SWB's 14,000 impedance and then they went to 24,000 in 1969?

The 4 versus 6 cylinder marking though I don't understand.

I'm also no expert at all on this, just here to learn.

I don't know when impedance changed either, but as Haul noted, this is clearly a 912 housing, with a January '67 ink stamp.

Propsinc, how do you know this item is NOS and not assembled from parts? Please post the product code reference... wonder if it's just a VDO anomaly?
