    67 S bumper deco

In my search for the outer bumper deco for a 67 S a lot was offered, but everything looked pretty rotten. Only the newer ones lasts from 69 are good to get in a nice condition. Eric showed a photo with differences on the inner side. But can you see the difference when mounted? Does someone know a trader or a private person who can offer NOS 67 S bumper deco or a bumper deco in a really nice condition?

It is a little bit difficult to decide whether rotten or wrong parts are better here.

    Kind regards.

If you find a way to mount the correct (by Eric Linden) rubbers on the “for SWB extended LWB lookalike repro’s”, you won’t notice too much of a difference. The LWB end seems more ”pointed”, while the SWB end is more ‘rounded”.

As far as I know, there is nobody reproducing the SWB large alu trim (correctly). Also Eric and Marek are not reproducing the alu.

I was lucky to find 1 NOS in Germany. The other side was still with the car and both alu and rubber were extremely well preserved. As part of the restoration I de-anodized, polished and re-anodized the one I had.

Alternatively you can find ones in worse shape and prepare them like for painting. You can match for a paint looking like “bright anodized” (like often done with Fuchs center caps since you cannot re-anodize them while keeping the pronges fixed) and mount the correct rubber...

Are you looking for the rubber, the aluminum base, or both ?

    Hallo Rick,
I think Eric can offer the rubber but not the aluminium base for the bumpers. So I look for the aluminium base but if the rubber is included it would simplify shipping.

    Kind regards

I think an important detail has been left out of this discussion, the tab that holds the rubber end in place on the original base instead of the stud used on lwb and the repros. I think with a little work a repro ( on the left)) base, could have a tab added and the end squared to make it look and function like an original.

That’s the main thing: find a way to mount the 1 piece SWB bull nosed rubber.

If someone would make a repro of the alu, the 3 main differences are:
    - smaller hole
    - more rounded end
    - keep the top longer for the rubber to mount

On a NOS part the top is straight and it is only bent with the rubber on as far as needed.
