what’s this? tubing on back of air filter housing

    Hi!

In tracing down some fuel leaks on my 1970 911T, i took off my air filter housing and noticed this tubing on the back that has not connected to anything for the last 21 years I have had the car.

On the inside of the housing cover there are metal tubes that appear to be purposely blocked by a rubber plug on each side.

    Any idea what its for?

    Thanks
    Chris

That's the cold start spray system, likely disconnected years ago during dealer field fix.

Thanks! I will leave it alone as I have for a couple decades. Nice to know what it is/was, I could not even think of what to search for to try and look it up.

    Regards,

I'd assume that the other end is also disconnected as it would lie spraying raw fuel in the engine compartment when you start the car....

My 70T has the same system complete with the solenoid that operates it, the power lead that was supposed to activate it during cold starts was disconnected and tucked away by the harness, the fuel line had the supply Tee still in place and connected to the solenoid, the disconnection was done by the Porsche dealer that serviced the car when it was young.
