Looking for photos from German events in 1970 and 71

I am trying to research some German rallye and circuit events in 1970 and 1971, and looking for photos of specific events, and was wondering if any European members in particular may have photos.

I have found that while some events like Nurburgring have lots of photos available there are a lot of others where there do not seem to be any.

In particular I am looking for photos of the 1970 and 1971 Wiesbaden rallies as well as the 1971 Munchen-Wien-Budapest Rallye, and track events from the airport circuits at Mainz-Finthen and Diepholz in 1970 and 1971.

In all of these events there seems to have been a significance number of 911's many, I suspect were ST's given the people who were driving them and their description in the entry lists. However I cant find any photos at all after an extensive search of my sources including European forums.

In particular I am interested in the July 1970 Diepholz (SRP/GT) race that had Niki Lauda in a 908/01 competing with a McLaren M12, a Chevron B8, a Shelby GT350, a couple of 906's and a bunch of 911's, at least some of which look like they were Gp4 ST's from the entry list.

If there are photos of any other airfield events, in particular, from that period I would also love to see them. The usual sources seem to not have many of these races at all.

    Thanks Chuck

Yes it is a lot harder than I first thought when i started looking for particular events, based on the event entry records that are easier to find. It has made me realize what am amazing resource the Austrian Technical Museum of Vienna is for this type of information, in particular photos. However, understandably, the collection is predominantly of events in Austria. In the same way the Revs collection has an amazing collection. Both have in common the fact that photographers who covered motorsport in various countries and had an extensive library have left their collections to those organizations. I have yet to find similar resources for Germany, UK or France and possibly they do not exist. The hard copy of magazines is a great, but more limited, resource in part because they only published a small percentage of photographs taken and in part because they are less accessible. That said over the years a lot of those photos have been published on various forums, including the excellent threads on this board (although in most cases the explanation and background of the photo is not included which makes finding a specific photo a big job).

I appreciate the efforts of all in helping in this search.

    Thumbs up

While seaching for Hugh I came accross this ad in my Jan. 15, 1970 Motorsport magizine from the UK...

Yeah I know they're 4 hole configured, however we all know they came in 5 hole as well.....

And being the begining of '70 they were pertty much what were used to fill the big fendered 911's....

    Back to the search......
