    68S Softie restoration

Set out 6 months ago on a long-anticipated project to bring a good-running 68S back to appropriate cosmetic condition. As the project nears the end, I wanted to share a bit of the process.

    Looking absolutely cracking
(Pls glad there are no side markers spoiling the lines ..! - presumably being a 68s, the car was from Europe ?)

Yes! In '68, the S was not imported to the US (couldn't meet new emissions restrictions). Obviously ROW cars didn't have the nasty 'warts.' We're not sure the original country of delivery for this car. We don't have a Kardex. But it's the 14th S Targa made for 1968 model year, so likely built in Fall of '67...

Bonus pic (interior still in progress)

I love the early '68S's that have the '67S rocker decos.

Yes, original leather seats. Only needed to replace one (smooth) panel to retain proper patina. Only real creative interior work required was adding a steel channel to the rear edge of the dash top to kill the warp that seems typical of these 2-piece dashes. Awaiting fresh Elephant Hide door panels (repro). Elephant hide insert in dash is original.

Today's project is completing soft window re-install, then rear interior trims.
