Thread: MFI - Can't set idle

  1. #31
My engine builder said that the throttle bodies where a little worn but he felt that they were okay. Other than not being able to set the idle correctly, are there other signs that the throttle bodies need to be rebuilt?

Maybe your engine builder could adjust the idle down for you. Other than idle, worn throttle bodies don't really cause any problems.

I've been in constant contact with the engine builder and we've tried everything and cannot get it where it needs to be.

    Thanks for the advice

    Sporadic idle
    1. Sticking mfi rack. Remove linkage. Remove rubber cup on mfi (in the front). Use non metal rod to push in the rack and feel it return. If not remove and send to mark jung to get rdbuilt.
    2. Sticking distributor. Remove soak in wd40 drain good and replace
    3. Sticking linkages. Remove and lubricate. With linkage off actuate each throttle body do they return smoothly to the stop?
    4. Use the check measure adjust document as a guide
    5. Need to get baseline adjustments on rack and idle mixture. And yes you can over adjust the main rack screw and it will fall out. I believe if you go too far counter clockwise
    6. Need to check throttles all set the same and need to use the proper tool
