    Advice on suspension bushes sought

OK, so I need a complete set of new rubber bushes for my rebuild and I check online and am now confused.

The car will be a fast road/occasional event car and I don't want to kill it through lack of compliance.

I could either go down the OEM route and get Porsche supplied - although they may be the same as the aftermarket ones available???

Or, I could go polybush but I really don't like the blue colour and then I noticed some black ones made of Polyurethane but they mention track use on the packaging so they may be too much.

What experiences have you had out there with the different types- might as well get it right at this stage.

    Any help....as usual.....very gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Matthew

The elephant racing rubber bushings are very good. I had all my bushings done a few years back with their rubber and am very satisfied.

Me too. Elephant Racing Rubber on front and rear. Really nice ride and not too hard.

I went with stock from Porsche. No issues except on the front sway bar, where their idea of 15 mm seemed impossible to fit even though my bar was stock. Seemed more appropriate for a 13 mm (which was an earlier optional size). I ordered from 2 different sources and had the same problem. Went with Elephant Racing for those and they fit perfectly.

I just developed a new rubber rear spring plate bushing for 911/912 that is harder rubber than what the other guys do, higher Shore Durometer rating. All of the OEM type material on this bushing is too soft and the suspension sags over time - tons of weight on this one part. In cooperation with International Mercantile, no one else has this part - call them and buy direct from them, tell Cam I sent you. The rest of the rubber bushings are fine from OEM from Porsche or Pelican or wherever, Elephant racing has a firmer rubber trailing arm bushing if you would like and they can supply all the bushings - except the new harder spring plate bushing. We did the harder bushing in the smaller SWB too for 65-67 cars which have even more of a sag problem due to small inner bushing.

All the polyurethane stuff is garbage for a street car.

I see you already ordered, but I also vote for the Elephant Racing rubber bushings. I used those on my car as I am not looking for race car tightness and would rather not have it squeak and jar my kidneys as I drive around. I think you will be pleased with ER bushings.

Another +1 for Elephant Racing....they helped me with my front suspension rebuild. They have all the options from stock rubber to racing stuff. Their tech support was really good and got quick responses to all my questions throughout the process. They cleaned and powder coated my control arms, installed control arm bushings, had all my zinc hardware replated, got me all the rest of the correct parts. Really satisfied!

I went with stock spring plate bushings, and after about a 1000 miles they seem to be holding up well. I am sure ER's bushings are a better performance choice knowing their quality. Here is how I did mine.
