    What's with the engine number? Did you have the third piece re-stamped?

    The engine number belongs to a 1969 912. What do you mean by the third piece re-stamped?

    The stamping of the case number has several problems. The font, the shape/size of the stars, the number of stars (should be 2, not three), the "P" at the beginning of the number which is a 356 thing, not a 912 thing...

    That's clearly not a factory 912 stamp.

    I wonder which case type this is based upon. 616/36, 616/39, or 616/40?

    912 number. Note there is no "P" and two stars.
    356 number. Note the "P" and two starts.
    There is a KD*P*XXXXXX* on Ebay. (From where I borrowed the two images)
