"KD" is a factory designation for cars that had their engine rebuilt/replaced under factory warranty. There is also an "AT" stamp. My understanding is that KD was for rebuilt engines and AT was for replaced engines but there's some debate over the exact dates of us of these designations.

There is a KD*P*XXXXXX* on Ebay. (From where I borrowed the two images)

Interesting! I was looking up just the numbers and comparing to cars that had sold on Bring A trailer. Is there any other location of a number/ stamping that could provide me more info on what the motor is?

There will be a couple numbers stamped. One is for case halves. They should match. The others are case type which should be a 616/xx number. The other is the build number. Where matching numbers is concerned, the only recorded number is the one one the third piece.
