What cars were built by Baur for Porsche? And why?

    I know the 1967/8 911R’s were as well as the 1968/9 GTS’s.

So they worked in both grp and aluminum. They started with a lightweight shell?

Were their other models? Just race versions or limited production?

And why did Porsche outsource to them?

Were there other body builders besides Reuter’s and Karman?

    Any reference materials?

    Thanks

914-6 Rallye Cars (Rollbar and Body mods), 916 Roof and other Stuff, 917
and probably others. They had some experience with GRP and were a body shop capable building prototypes and small series.
At edition weiss blau they still have the Baur Chronik http://www.edition-weiss-blau.de but it won't go into depth regarding Porsche, but it lists what Hermann Wenzelburger (Head of Design at Baur) remembered they did.
When I was doing some research for the Book with Markus Freitag however we've been to Audi Archives, Porsche Archives and with Wenzelburger who remebered Stuff they've done for the Rallye 914-6 that Jens Torner from Porsche Archives didn't know although he is very knowledgeable with this model.
I think Beuttler, Wendler, and some Swiss Coachbuilders, D'Ieteren did bodies IIRC too

Are there any period photos of Porsche projects at Baur?

It is said they also do the raw chassis for the 959
1985 - 1988 Fertigung von Rohbaukarossen für den Porsche 959.

Among other things, the Swabians supplied the space frame for the 917

"The company was also instrumental in the development of the Porsche hunting car (Jagdwagen)," says FreitagThe off-road vehicle was built based on a tender issued by the German armed forces. "The car was even able to swim. And when competitor models got stuck during the test drives, the hunting car pulled them out again," says the Baur fan. Nevertheless, the DKW Munga was awarded the contract. "Like so much that Baur worked on, the hunting car was just too good, and therefore too expensive."
