Deco trim on Fiberglass S bumper

    Gents,

I have a 73T I purchased over a year ago that came with a fiberglass S bumper (see pic below). The S bumper lacks any alum deco trim, but the side and rear bumpers have the thinner alum deco trim that came on the T from my understanding.

Is it possible to add thinner alum deco trim to the fiberglass S bumper and have good fitment given the fiberglass bumper lacks the recess for the trim. I realize I would have to drill holes to mount the deco trim, but am worried about fitment.

I prefer the look of the S bumper over the standard front T bumper so would like to keep. I contemplated installing an oem S bumper with the recesses and mounting holes, but from my understanding the width of the recess for the trim is made for the wider S trim.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Factory steel S bumper has no recess for trim either, it is smooth like your 'glass bumper. All you need to add the narrow trim is to drill the mounting holes. And the trim, of course.

Ah! I misunderstood. Thank you for the info.

Do you have a brand recommendation for the deco trim and rubber with best fitment?

There are numerous threads here on front deco trim fit, although many (most?) discuss the wider S-trim. The consensus seems to be that the aluminum base that fits best is the factory part. The factory rubber trim is also considered best. The plastic molding between the aluminum base and the bumper has several suppliers that are decent, I used International Merchantile's base molding.

Of course, even the factory aluminum might not match the contour of your fiberglass bumper. So you may need to tweak anything that you install.
