... by eighties maybe Porsche Corporate branding and the like were becoming more “coordinated / controlled”... I don’t know, so I’ll leave it there because I’m not in market for eighties stuff

Nice display. I like the gas pump too.
Just SOLD in the DealTank. Thanks everyone for your inputs, knowledge, and comments.
Does anyone else think such 'auctions' e.g., https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/d...-sign-49-x-97/ are being used to establish a 'market' for these reproduction signs that is way above their real value?

I can’t speak about the other signs to which you are referring, but the one I sold is 100% authentic. I understand that skepticism is healthy, so of course I don’t mind trying to answer provenance questions to the best of my ability. I’ve known the previous owner for 20 years, about the same about of time I’ve been a member of PCA. The sign is presently en route to a gentleman who is also a long-time Porsche enthusiast with a large car collection (and apparently a large garage!) I’m only involved because I love Porsches and the hobby, and I want to see the legacies passed to the next generation. I only feel the need to state this for the record because I will be helping to sell many other Porsche items that have been amassed over a 40 year period. Engine cases, mufflers, shop manuals, etc. All pieces will be authentic and represented with complete transparency.

It's an interesting question and one that is only logical to ask considering the, shall we say, less-than-savory reputation PCM has earned since they've opened.
Thanks to the OP for taking part in this discussion and for answering our questions to the best of his ability.
