WTB: Backfire Grid (aka Spark Arrestor, Flame Trap) 901-107-729-00

Recently realized my car is missing the "Backfire Grid", 901-107-729-00.

Before I pony up to buy a new one, does anyone have a decent used one sitting around?

Apparently fits many different 911/912 vintages, all the way through 911SC. (Picture from Pelican.)

There was a used one at Aase when someone else asked exactly this question last week. About half what a new one costs. TBH, that was the first used one I had seen in years, so good luck.

EDIT: It's sold. Not surprising. Hen's teeth.

There's a used one at a reasonable price on Samba now, but pictures make it look like the packing may be missing. Not willing to chance it.

Did some more searching by part number, and found that EBS Racing has them on sale, probably overstock from the Parts Heaven inventory. Great price for brand new. Mine is on its way now.

That's a good price. Not as low as the Aase one was, but you are getting new and it should last for all your time on God's green earth. Many of the used ones do have the backing blown out or rotted. They were used across several VW and Porsche models. You can repack these with brass wool, but honestly, for $75, why would you?

Exactly. I was willing to buy new from one of the online dealers at higher price if no good used were available. So at this price it was an easy call - truly, I grabbed my phone and ordered it on the spot.

Late update - EBS Racing says they don't have these in stock, despite what the website still says. They are apparently in the middle of moving to a different website provider, as their current one has difficulties keeping the inventory database synch'd.

Tom, sending you a PM now...
