Thread: 901 muffler detail

One more detail, my friend with #3013xx emailed me to tell me that his exhaust has the smooth exhaust tip without the wrinkles. The wrinkled pipe as can been seen in post #4 here https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...le-SWB-muffler appeared to have phased in somewhere in '65

I own car 301100 which has been off the road since 1974. I'm a hard yes on one of these mufflers. Just need to decide which one. Let me look at my car this weekend and see if it still has the original muffler on it.

Count me in as well as I own #300370 and seems to have all early details including the rear flat panel. Currently awaiting restoration.

Update for those interested. We are getting close to starting production. There is three more details we are trying to solve to ensure to we have an as authentic as possible product. If anybody out there could help it would be fantastic.

    1. Does anybody have good information, preferably from an original muffler on the angle of the tip? The profile picture posted by Bob clearly shows the end of the tip not finishes straight but at an angle. I can estimate it from the picture but would be great if we could get a real measurement
    2. Is the overall length of the actual outlet pipe/tip the same as the later mufflers?
    3. Is the diameter of the actual outlet pipe/tip the same as the later mufflers?

    TIA,

    JK

    Thanks Richard,

Using the profile picture posted by Bob and blowing it up, I get ~120-125 degrees as the angle between the bottom side of the pipe/tip and the opening using a protractor transposed on my screen. Perhaps there is someone on the lit who is good with photoshop etc. who can confirm.
