Just some thoughts.
It looks to be in line w the rear bumper guard?
Does it stick out further than the guard?

Hope this may help in estimating the size and angle of the tail pipe slope.
Photo from the factory of cars prior to shipping.
Other info: Rear grilles look to be the tall 20mm and the inset is dark painted, no 911 model badge.
Estimate photo taken early 1965.

Hi Bob,
Thanks a lot for the picture, very helpful. Is it me or does it look like the tips extends further out to the rear of the car than the later tips?
JK
Interesting perspective Richard. Thinking the longer pipe might just be an optical illusion. I think we will go ahead and just use the same length as the later systems
Reporting back on the 901 muffler project. Sadly Covid has been a distorting factor. These will be made in Germany and the factory is currently working at very low capacity and is experiencing considerable strains in material availability. Their current planning puts delivery out for 4-5 months at least.
I will be e-mailing those who have expressed an interest if this is workable for them. There is very little margin in this project and I don't want to be stuck with 20 systems because people no longer need them.
If you want an original authentic construction made in Germany 901 system (~first 1000 cars) or second series system (most SWB) contact me offline
for the records, Krupps 911, i think VIN is recorded, 1965.

Most often part numbers stamped in or molded into parts are not the part numbers inventoried by Porsche. However, in your discussion the dates stamped after the part numbers could help figure out one version from the next.
