FS: RHD 1968 911L Coupe - Australian Delivered

1968 Porsche 911L SWB coupe; 1 of 8 delivered in Australia in 1967/8 ; matching numbers . Dark Metallic Green, with Tan interior. Delivered to first owner in Melbourne via Hamiltons in February 1968. The 911L was only available for the 1968 model year sitting between the T and the S; this car was specified with 911S options (gauges and brakes), 5 speed manual (901) transmission and a standard 130hp engine.

I have owned the car since January 1998. During this time it has been meticulously maintained by marque specialists – BWA, Autohaus Hamilton, Harrison RRR and Porsche Centre Melbourne Classic Division. The engine was rebuilt in 1999 by Autohaus Hamilton. A recent (August 2019) overall check and compression test pronounced the car to be in excellent yet rude health.

The car was cosmetically refurbished (it didn’t require a restoration) in 2014 by renowned Sydney restorers Zag Automotive. Refurbished – and returned to original colour (Dark Metallic Green) from bare metal, it was described as one of the most sound short wheel base shells they had ever seen. Retrimmed by Prostitch (Sydney) with original carpets, new headlining and period houndstooth trim

Owned by a lifetime member (and son of a founding member) Porsche Club of NSW, and long-time foundation member of the Australian Typ 901 Register. The car is well known and highly regarded in both NSW and Victoria, and was the subject of two Christophorus (Porsche Factory Magazine - Australian Supplement) articles.

Award winning in both NSW and Victoria – this early 911 has received numerous awards in PCNSW concours events over the last 20 years, has placed 3rd (outright) in the 2016 Rennsport Reunion Australia Show 'N Shine, and recently was named the outright winner of the Australian Typ 901 Show 'N Shine (November 2018).

A genuine turn-key early 911 with provenance, that could be driven to Brisbane tomorrow, and enjoyed for many years to come.

These cars are a revelation to drive, being so low in weight they have the agility and responsiveness lacking in the heavier, later model 911s; enthusiasts are realising what a delight they are to drive; this is a rare opportunity to own a meticulously maintained, award-winning, useable and exciting classic short wheel base 911. AUD$235,000 ono. Phone Justin Reed +61 414961027. Or Pm.
