Thread: Clutch pop

    Clutch pop

1972 911t, pushed in on the clutch to hear a pop, then pedal when to the floor. Appears the cable is still attached at both ends and the pedal does move the arm at the back of the car, but just a little at the bottom of the travel. Anyone have any ideas what to look for?

    Thanks
    Chris

The clutch cable goes thru a metal tube. About 4 feet long, or so.
It starts under the parking brake or shifter. The goes thru tunnel to the back firewall.
It is welded at both ends.
The welds break. More than you think.

It's easiest to see with passenger seat out. And the parking brake assembly, and maybe the shifter removed.

The clutch will still pull. Just as you are describing.
But it won't be as efficient... And come up short. And clunck some inside the tunnel.

Cable, pedal roll pin or clutch release fork inside bell housing.
