Here is my hand brake cable strap. My recollection is the brake strap was longer than the clutch cable strap. Old part numbers are different for clutch and brake suspension straps. Clutch, 999 706 009 80. Brake, 999 706 012 80. G

    Gordon,

Yes, the brake one is NLA but the clutch one is still available. Clutch one is 80 mm and I believe is the shorter of the two. But shorter works as a default and keeps the brake cable and the flapper box cable off the throttle bell crank. So I imagine that's why they obsoleted the longer one.

It still amazes me that obscure parts like that L bracket and the grey strap are still available new from Porsche. The L bracket was NLA for a long time, but is back in production and stocked in Porsche's US and Canadian distribution centres.

Auto atlanta carries the one Porsche still sells. That's the 80 mm clutch one. Available at your friendly dealer, though the Auto Atlanta price is about 1/3 the normal dealer price.

Good find on the Stoddard catalog. None of those are technically the right length for the brake I believe although the 165 mm one may be close enough. The short 80 mm one keeps the brake and flapper box cable well off the throttle bell crank, so that's probably all one needs to be safe and not have your throttle hang up because the bell crank caught those cables.

Here’s a photo of the $2.17 strap from Auto Atlanta...100mm total length, 80mm from bolt hole to bolt hole:

That’s the same size as Porsche sells. 80 mm eyelet to eyelet. So if you want longer, Stoddard or make your own.
