I found this on rennlist a couple of years ago and attached a front plate on a cayenne with this method, and it worked fine ... " What you do is get 3m Paint Protection Film installed in the area where you will get mount or tape the license. Use VHB tape (super strong for outdoor use) to attach plate to 3M film. When you want to remove just pull off the film and you will be done. Simple. "

To raise the panel you're going to have to adjust the bumpers and probably bend the tabs some. Best to do all that fitting before paint but just be careful.

So off the stands today. A few items to finish off, such as the rear panel, connect fuel lines, new wheels, add oil, rear view mirror, alignment etc...but most of the heavy lifting is done. Thanks to all.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Its been a journey. I first saw the car up near Limerock park CT on August 25, 2018 - so its been about 3 plus years. I sold a 1972 T I had previously purchased and acquired this S. I have taken my time (way too much in the view of my wife...) and made sure to do it as right as I can to the way it came off the factory floor. Its not perfect, but its pretty good. Went with NOS or Porsche parts as much as possible and spent a fortune on the paint and having parts refinished by the best of the best on this forum. But WOW, does it shine ! However, if it weren't for this forum and great suppliers I would be lost and I appreciate all the free expert help along the way. Still have a few bits to finish up...but maybe I am procrastinating to start her up ? or maybe its the fact that my garage is now on winter heat mode and my bones don't really like 60F degrees anymore?

Off to Florida soon for a few months and hope to find my next project...A Targa in a unique color.

Where in Florida? Are you bringing the car? I live in S Florida and not many long hoods around.
