    Key Ignition/Tumbler

    Hi All,

Yesterday I put the key in my '69 ignition and the key turned hard to the right and then didn't have any spring bounce back to the left. I pulled the key out and apparently it got bent somehow prior to going in the ignition. The bent key apparently did some damage in the tumbler/ignition. Anyone know what the best place for a fix may be? Locksmith? P-car mechanic? I'm afraid if I keep using my spare straight key that it may fail or break off in the ignition/tumbler which is damaged.

Any suggestions on which way to go would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much!

The last time the key got stuck in the ignition lock on my 1969 911 I removed the lock cylinder (easy to do) and brought the whole unit to the local locksmith...he fixed it in minutes for $15.

There’s nothing special or exotic about our ignition lock.
