the engines only a little bit broken...

i don't have access to the motor. no real knowledge of motor history ,only anecdotal evidence it was a race car... Question is.... "Turns in each direction 1or2 centimeters."
I am not a mechanic, so my guess is just that, a guess.... the crank shaft should be ok in its journals, and damage would likely be higher up or possible rod journal???/.
I am asking because i may have to buy this motor, blind.... From !-5 what are the odds the cases are salvageable? 1 being good odds 5 being not good.

turning some, should be much better than frozen.
a piston is probably hitting a valve.

other things i think it could be, intermediate gear problem, chain has jumped teeth. or a broken rod.

but, is the tranny connected...and the car is in gear? not neutral...i can imagine, in my mind, and engine turning a centimeter, in gear. back and forth.
and if the tranny is connected...it could be a tranny problem or a clutch problem.

and one more thing. my car, in gear, parking brake on, the engine will rotate 1+ cm.
