Very well done Mike, but I would expect nothing less from your creative mind. I hope it was my car that was the "bad influence" to you in creating your sports purpose 914.

Yeah, the 380 is just a little too large IMO for a 914. I like something smaller 350 to maybe 370. Looking forward to seeing the car some day.

Just catching this thread now so a little late to the party, but well done .... looks so good. Not too surprised though, as pretty much everything you touch is gold ... we'll have to give you a new nickname ...MiDas instead of MiDiLeo ! The steering wheel is the cherry on the cake to the seats and the wheels fitting with those fenders .... talent :-)

Thanks Karl, your opinion always means so much to me. Speaking of gold though, I decided that the standard 914 emblem no longer represented what this car is anymore, so I added a GTS badge since the car feels more 904 to me than it does VW.

Just a quick update. I had these vintage Cibie’s sitting in a box waiting for the right project. Being rained in for Memorial Day weekend, I decided to try them on the car. I think I like them. I am awaiting appropriate covers so for now and since they are not hooked up I felt that the Lucas covers were a fun inside joke. (Lights that don’t work)

Those big lights are perfect... seeing this car in the flesh, all the details are so thoughtfully executed. Great hotrod Teener.

Gonna do the Crawl again in 2022?

Oh hell yeah. Keith put on a great event.

It was great meeting you and your wife Russ. That car of yours was SPECTACULAR. For those who don't know, Russ has a hot rod '67S so he's a man after my own heart. I hope he doesn't mind me showing it off a little here.

Drop me a line some time so I can hear more about your 6/GT project.

    I had a 74 2.0 and a 70 914-6 with a 2.2S. Your car makes me wish I'd kept them.
This wasn't my car but my 6 was this color with these wheels. Or maybe it was, who knows. I consigned it to Alan Johnson in San Diego about 81, 82 or 83.

Sometimes I wish I kept my willow green 914/6, but I liked looking at it better than fitting in it. All original.

I could see where your changes made it a more fun car to drive, and it looks amazing.
