    We know the factory dipped the wheels to avoid taping, so they blocked the holes off?

    I sold a set of deep sixes last week and they were shipped to Ed, per the customer's request. I'll let everyone know how they come out. It will be a good before/after moment.

    That set appears to be original finish. If paint is a torque issue, how do steel wheels and the later powder coated alloys stay properly fastened?

    I don't want to hi jack his thread.....If you look closely, you'll see that they are dirty, not painted.

    I sent some wheels to Fuchs Restoration a couple years ago and then had to swallow my pride and have Harvey re-do them. They looked nice and for the average consumer would have been just fine. However, the anodizing finish was not 100% authentic. The most obvious deficiency is that original wheels are more smoothly polished on the face of the rim and spokes, while the sides of the spokes and barrel of the rim have a slightly more textured finish beneath the anodizing. (Difficult to describe, but easy to see when you look at an original wheel)

    The Fuchs Restoration wheels have the same polished finish beneath the anodizing across the whole wheel. Again, not a big deal until you recognize the difference and then it stands out like a sore thumb from 10 feet away. That was a painful $1,000 lesson for me.
