'. . . This 1970 Porsche 911S is a Signal Orange coupe that was sold new by Vasek Polak Porsche Audi of Hermosa Beach, California in January 1970 according to the selling dealer, subsequently spending time in California and West Virginia before being relocated to Dubai in 2014. The car returned to the US in June 2020, at which point it was acquired by the selling dealer. Power is from a 2.2-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, and service in preparation for the sale included a throttle adjustment as well as replacement of the windshield washer pump, several hoses, brake fluid, and more. This 911S is offered in New York with an owner’s manual, a partially-stamped service booklet, service records back to 2014, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, a tool kit, and a clean Ohio title.

The car was finished in Signal Orange from the factory, and was partially repainted in the late 1990s according to the selling dealer. The paint is said to have been measured with a micrometer. Cracks are noted in the engine lid along with a handful of chips around the body.

Polished 15” Fuchs wheels with black recesses are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires showing April 2017 date codes. A matching spare wheel and jack are housed in the front trunk. The selling dealer notes replacement of the brake fluid in June 2020.

The interior is trimmed in black leatherette and features a period push-button AM/FM Blaupunkt radio. VDO instrumentation includes a central tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline flanked by a 150-mph speedometer and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles.

The 2.2-liter flat-six features mechanical fuel injection and produced 180 horsepower at 6,500 rpm when new. Work carried out in June 2020 included changing the oil and filter, adjusting the throttle, installing new heater and oil hoses, and replacing the windshield fluid washer pump

    History
In September of 1969 Porsche delivered the new 2.2-lirt C-Series Model 911 for the 1970 model year. All three versions of the series, the 911T, 911E, and 911S were available in either Coupe or Targa. The entry-level model was the 911T with 125hp, the 911E was 155hp and the flagship model, the 911S was an impressive 180hp.

The front-strut mounting points in the C-Series models were moved slightly forward in order to lighten steering and reduce kickback for better handling. The steel engine covers on the E and S versions were replaced with aluminum to shave weight. The T version finally received ventilated disc brakes, but to keep costs down they were iron as opposed to the lighter alloy calipers used on the more expensive E and S. The only other significant change for 1970 was an anti-corrosion coating for the chassi

    . . . now on PCar Market . . .

'. . . Sold new from Vasek Polak Porsche/Audi of Hermosa Beach, California, this 1970 911S Coupe came factory finished in Signal Orange over a black leatherette interior. The car is believed to have later moved to West Virginia and eventually imported to Dubai before returning to the United States in June of 2020. It was acquired by the current owner the following September and has since been completely refinished in its original color along with a rebuild of the transmission, mechanical fuel injection system, all new suspension bushings, new houndstooth Sport Seats, and many other refurbishments. A beautifully presented 2.2L 911S, this 1970 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This Coupe was ordered in Signal Orange, a classic Porsche color first offered in the 1970 model year. Compared to the entry-level 911T, the 911S comes with gold rear lettering as well as a lighter aluminum rear decklid, aluminum deco trim on the rocker panels, and wider rubber strips on the bumpers. The car has received a complete glass-out repaint in its original color at a cost of over $25k. Front and rear bumper bars have also been recently fitted along with new Bosch H4 headlamps. The 15” Fuchs wheels come dressed in a set of Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Detailed images are provided . . .

The black leather interior has been fitted with a set of new Sport Seats featuring houndstooth cloth inserts. The door panels have been replaced, the steering wheel has been rewrapped in black leather, and new Coco floormats have been added to the footwells. Several holes had been filled in after a dealer-installed A/C system was removed from the dashboard. The seller notes the heater hoses have also been recently repaired. Compared to the 911T, the 911S receives a full suite of instrumentation including oil level and oil pressure gauges.

The air-cooled 2.2L flat-six engine features mechanical fuel injection, forged pistons, and an oil cooler mounted in the right front fender. The 911S comes standard with front and rear stabilizer bars as well as aluminum front brake calipers. As much as 180 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission, which is said to have been recently rebuilt along with the distributor and fuel injection system. Other recent service items include oil and filter changes, new spark plugs, and replacement of all suspension bushings

Now, at Porsche Santa Clarita . . .

'. . . At Porsche Santa Clarita, we specialize in providing once-in-a-lifetime automotive experiences to you, the motoring public. This jaw-dropping 1970 Porsche 911S is the latest such offering. Sold new from the legendary Vasek Polak Porsche in Newport Beach, this 911S now calls Porsche Santa Clarita home. The exterior is finished in Signal Orange over a Black interior with Pepita (houndstooth) inserts on the front seats. This 911 sports 76,000 miles and has since undergone an exhaustive restoration–returning this 911 to the head-turning state it was when it departed Germany over 5 decades ago. Additionally, this example comes with the 2.2L engine with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Other desirable classic 911 features include 15" Fuchs wheels and Bosch headlights.

The original Porsche 911 is an icon amongst icons. It was the impetus for the high-powered and comfortable sports machines that we all love today. It was the beginning of an era that we don't intend to end. The air-cooled, rear-mounted engine taught us that not being traditional was a breeding ground for change. The 911S was introduced as a more powerful, sporty option for the motorsports-inclined and is seen as one of the most desirable of the air-cooled 911 models. This car injected the iconic 911 shape and driving experience into our subconscious–now unmistakeable. Examples such as this seldom come up for sale, so when we decided to offer this one, which has undergone a complete inspection by Porsche Classic technicians, it is one for the history books
