Thread: Used Parts sources

    Used Parts sources

Hi I hope this is an appropriate thread. I was actually thinking it might be a good candidate for a sticky.

I am looking for sources for used parts - dismantling yards, most likely. We have a good one here in Boulder, Colorado, Carquip. I use them often.

There used to be ads in the back of Pano but no more.

OK to ask for recommendations here?

I'm genuinely curious, Bob: how often have you found any longhood parts in a dismantling yard? It's been 20+ years for me. Most of the trusted purveyors are on this site.

The biggest online source I can think of is DC in North Carolina, but just to illustrate how thin early stuff is, scroll through their catalog: http://dcautocatalog.com/
Tried using these guys twice and was better served by WTB ads here and asking around the local Porsche shops.

Who in their right mind would ever buy a used part anyway?

Hi Jim - my '73 is un-restored and has plenty of patina. so interior parts and the like are useful since they match up well. Right now I am looking for a passenger side rear bumper guard....there are certain parts I would never buy used of course

yes it was.... you would walk in to Jim's place, on the counter was a big orange button, you would slam that, and john would fetch the part.... now that was easy
